Liverpool beat Wolves !!!

Until Stephen Ward's 53rd-minute sending off, Mick McCarthy's Wolves had held their hosts manfully but - after the makeshift left-back's controversial second yellow card - Liverpool overran their guests to win comfortably in the end.
Gerrard (pictured right) opened the scoring on 62 minutes with a powerful header, while Benayoun completed the win soon afterwards with a heavily-deflected shot.
In what has become a typical pattern for Liverpool, the first half was pedestrian in pace and attitude, with the hosts struggling to get any intensity or rhythm to their passing and Fernando Torres frustrated by his team-mates' delivery and frustrating in his own execution.
Apart from a smart drive tipped over by Marcus Hahnemann on seven minutes, Liverpool's top scorer seemed off the pace, mis-hitting two shots from good positions, heading wildly over from close range after a superb free-kick from Fabio Aurelio and taking tumbles under little pressure on two occasions.
The opening 45 minutes was typified for Torres when he chased referee Andre Marriner with his hands shaped as goggles after running into the arm of Richard Stearman, who had his back to the Spain star as he shepherded the ball to Hahnemann.
Wolves, meanwhile, were unlucky not to take the led in a furious five-minute spell midway through the half.
Pepe Reina saved well from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake while Nenad Milijas forced an excellent save from the Spaniard with a superb free-kick from the left wing.
Kevin Doyle headed wide as his team-mates lined-up to finish the Serb's subsequent near-post corner, while the former Red Star Belgrade man fired just wide after Doyle found him on the edge of the box.
Liverpool did dominate possession but, with the final ball lacking and the shooting boots left at home, it was mostly huff and puff until Glen Johnson got a lucky break off Ryan Jarvis only to see his drive well parried by Hahnemann.
The second half threatened to continue in the same vein: a low drive from Gerrard comfortably parried by Hahnemann was the only chance until the match swung Liverpool's way.
Ward, who had been booked at the start of the second half, picked up a second yellow on 52 minutes for pulling back Lucas Leiva, although he was belatedly dismissed after Marriner incorrectly carded Christophe Berra.
The card in itself was clear - it was a deliberate foul by Ward after he was outdone by a Gerrard backheel - but the manner in which the referee changed his decision was unusual.
Marriner, who initially booked Berra after consulting with his assistant, was then told to change his mind by Liverpool's players and coach and appeared to be receiving instruction through his earpiece from the fourth official, neither of which are permitted.
Rafael Benitez was applauded by McCarthy for signalling that Ward should be cautioned and Reina was booed whenever near the ball after his 90-yard sprint to confer with the officials.
From that point on Wolves were on the rack and they caved in 10 minutes later when Gerrard powered Emiliano Insua's left-wing cross into the top right.
Within eight minutes it was 2-0 after Fabio Aurelio's left-wing cross landed at the feet of Benayoun, who cut on to his left and drilled a low shot that took a huge deflection off Karl Henry and spun over Hahnemann.
Gerrard almost made it three but fired over after good work from Alberto Aquilani, who showed some nice touches but was largely anonymous on his full league debut.
Torres was given a full 90 minutes but continued to labour, notable in his absence of involvement in Liverpool's goals.
The win puts Liverpool seventh, a point above Birmingham after they held Chelsea and two behind Manchester City in sixth.
Wolves stay two points clear of the drop zone, with Hull City yet to play.
